The wetland of Psalidi is formed by two streams that flow into the coast of Psalidi forming a coastal wetland. It is 85-100 acres long and is connected to the sea through a channel that has been created with soil and vegetation. It is located very close to the main town of Kos, about 4 km to the east. During the Italian occupation, the wetland functioned as a salt lake for the production of salt. Its rich fauna includes turtles, herons and flamingos. The wetland is a wildlife sanctuary and is protected by laws (SPA - GR4210027).
