The view from the castle of Serifos is unique as you can see Sifnos, Kimolos, Milos, Vous, Paros, Syros, Tinos, Mykonos and Serifopoula in the horizon. The area has been inhabited since ancient times. Xenophon mentions the existence of an organized state, with public buildings and temples, on the top of the rock of the main town (Chora). It was a Venetian town which was surrounded by three successive and concentric fortifications.
