In 1930 the Italians constructed a network of underground and aboveground ammunition depots at the region of Merikia. In the tunnels of the fort there is a considerable number of exhibits from the Second World War, such as weapons, maps, photos and uniforms. The surrounding area has been turned into a military park, where you can see decommissioned military vehicles, tanks and fighter planes.
The tunnel of Merikia is open daily in the summer.
